The Town Hall of 2nd district
project details
Project development date: 1997
The Town Hall offices, with a built area of 1888 sqm and a surface of 9899 sqm, is designed in regime S + P +4 floors, with a maximum height of 24 m. The access road is through a connecting road between Str. Chiristigiilor with Bucur Obor parking lot and from there goes to the underground parking lot and the outside parking places.
The Hall’s volume, located on the NE side of the parking lot towards Central Market Place Obor, is composed of two intersected triangular prisms that allow an open perspective to the front hall. Exterior spaces were arranged with paths, green spaces, public facilities and recreation spaces.
The utilities on each level are divided as followed:
The basement offers a parking lot with a capacity of 26 cars, as well as technical areas - central heating, hydrophore, water tank, electrogenic group, Trafó post, general panel-warehouses, storage, archive and ALA shelter.
The most frequently visited functions are located on the ground floor(marital office, community relations office).
On the 1st floor there is an area reserved for management, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor are reserved for offices and meeting rooms.
In terms of visual architecture the building is an intersection between two prisms with accliv sides - one made of glass and the other of granite. High quality materials are being used: dry mounted natural stone plywood, curtain facades with double glazed windows. The inner courtyard is covered with a three-dimensional metallic structure (which is protected against fire by temperature-resistant paints) and glass.

Hotel Intercontinental
project details
Developed between: 1963-1968
The Intercontinental Hotel on Nicolae Balcescu boulevard, in the international category of Intercontinental network, with 4 stars and S + P + M + 23 floors. The hotels has 88 m high, was one of the highest buildings of its kind in Europe made of steel, a world success. Intercontinental Hotel is part of a complex that comprises a hotel near the National Theater and a large underground parking lot. The hotel was built between 1969-1971, as a symbol of a new beginning between a socialist country and a west country, through the coordination of U.S. investment interests and the business tourism in Romania.
At that time the highest building of the city, represented a model of effective structural building resolution, standing out by a static well balanced formula made to withstand 8 seismic degrees (resisted the 1977 earthquake).
The small placement space required an urban-architectural creation of a clubed tower style concave volume, allowing different orientations and favorable sun light; the front pastel color confers a special atmosphere within the urban platform of the capital.
The first 3 levels contain large public spaces, followed by 17 levels which provide accommodation facilities, the restaurant, pool and the canopy. The indexing of the floors, doesn’t contain number 13, which is considered to be unlucky.
The interior architecture emphasizes the structural elements; the anodized aluminum exterior carpentry, the polished colorless double glazing windows, the warm colors harmonized with the marbled plywood. The interior decoration and furniture links to diverse functional elements, to avoid monotony.

World Trade Center
project details
Development period: 1991-1993
World Trade Center is the first significant work built after 1990, in collaboration with the international firm Bouygues. The complex, is a large business center with exhibition halls, offices, conference halls and commercial spaces, plus the Sofitel hotel. The efficient collaboration between French architects and engineers with specialists from Bucharest Project gave birth to an architectural ensemble that exceeded the functionality and became a symbol, a gate to the central area of the city with a long panoramic view of Bucharest-Ploiesti route.
The framework of the building is extremely interesting, being placed within the national exhibition complex of The Free Press Square. The architecture reveals a change in the creative mentality, an expression of modern architecture built with efficient innovative materials, providing also high quality technological solutions.
